Lobby Day at the Roundhouse

All New Mexicans deserve a safe home that they can afford.

On Wednesday, January 27, 2016 a team from St. Es (including managers, staff, and board members) participated in the annual NMCEH Lobby Day at the Capital. This is an opportunity to meet with Senators and Representatives one on one to discuss proposed House Bills, funding, issues, and our stories of service.

Our state's budget is at a low point thanks to a significant decrease in gas prices. Unfortunately some of the state funding for programs like ours comes from the gas revenue. Our biggest communication to our legislators was please do not cut our current human services funding. While it is a long shot that they will pass any new funding (HB 59 and 88 - state funding for Permananet Supportive Housing and Rapid Rehousing) it is imperative that we maintain our current level of funding.

Special thanks to Representative Tomas E Salazar for championing the 2016 House Bills and for your support that we don't get discouraged by the current financial situation - that our goals are long term and achievable.
