May 26, 2016

You can earn money for education while making a difference in your community! St. Elizabeth Shelters and Supportive Services is currently recruiting a VISTA member to join the statewide New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness VISTA Team that works together to end homelessness in New Mexico. NMCEH VISTA members work behind the scenes to assist in strengthening programs through fundraising, volunteer recruitment, event planning, and educational programming.

St. Elizabeth Shelters and Supportive Housing are dedicated to assisting homeless individuals and families by providing emergency shelter, food, case management, counseling, supportive housing and referrals to partnering human-service agencies. St. Elizabeth Shelter’s ultimate goal is to end the cycle of homelessness.

VISTAs serve full-time and make a year-long commitment beginning Summer 2016.

Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) was envisioned by John F. Kennedy in 1963 and realized by Lyndon B. Johnson’s “War on Poverty.” Since then, over 100,000 members have devoted a year of their lives to answer the call to service by working to lift communities out of poverty. Now is the time to become a part of this 50 year legacy by serving with the New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness!

VISTA members are passionate activists committed to ending poverty and homelessness. They are excellent listeners and communicators, are highly organized, resourceful and self- motivated. During their year of service, VISTA members immerse themselves in the community that they serve to empower agencies and communities working to eradicate poverty.VISTA members are excellent team players and areinterested in growing personally and professionally during their year of service.

VISTA positions are open to all US citizens, nationals, and lawful permanent resident immigrants age 18 or older. Members receive a modest living allowance of $973 per month and support with childcare if needed.
