 Night Owl Needed for Overnight Shift at Men's Shelter (Santa Fe)

St. Elizabeth Shelter is seeking someone to cover our weekend overnight shifts. The shifts are Friday and Saturday, from 11pm-7am.

Our program provides shelter for up to 28 men, who have all been breathalyzed before being admitted into the shelter. Our guests have all received their vaccines for Covid. Staff and guests will be wearing masks. Intakes take place before this shift, and the primary duties for overnight are to make sure everyone is safe, and to provide breakfast for the next day..

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee safety of guests and shelter

  2. Ensure building and shelter property are secure

  3. Respond to any crisis or difficult situations that may arise, making the appropriate referrals, calling the police, paramedics or the Crisis Response Line (on-call staff will be available for assistance)

  4. Respond to guests’ concerns

  5. Assist individuals who come to the door needing food or clothing

  6. Prepare and set out breakfast

  7. Monitor and promote appropriate interactions among guests

  8. Assist with the responsibilities for front office operations, which include but are not limited to these specific duties:

  9. Answering phones and requests from other agencies

  10. Giving information to the public on services provided

  11. Completing proper documentation for all required purposes, including daily log, departures, bed chart, donation slips, etc.

  12. Monitoring and recording of guests’ medication regimes

  13. Assisting in promoting compliance with rules and policies

  14. Assisting in promoting proper documentation for all required purposes

  15. Attend and participate in staff meetings

  16. And other duties as assigned

 

Credentials/Qualifications
Ability to lift 20 lbs.

Experience and Skills
Experience working with homeless individuals and/or families preferred
Willing and able to work with diverse populations
Effective communication skills

Casa Familia Shift Supervisor (AM and PM positions)

Supervisor: Casa Familia Program Manager
Objective: The Shift Supervisor is responsible for supportive services to the Casa Familia Emergency Shelter Program with the goal of assisting clients in becoming self-sufficient and in moving them into permanent housing.
Salary: $17.50 per hour
Status: Full-Time FLSA non-Exempt Employee

Day and Night Shift Supervisor

     

  1. Assisting with the responsibilities for daily front office operations, which include but are not limited to these specific duties:

    1. Answering phones and receiving phone calls and requests from other agencies

    2. Making referrals

    3. Receiving, sorting, distributing and logging in donations

    4. Giving information to the public on services provided

  2. Assisting with and monitoring Day Shift functions (7:00am – 3:00pm).  This includes but is not limited to:

    1. Completing proper documentation for all required purposes, including daily log, departures, bed chart, donation slips

    2. Monitoring and overseeing morning chores

    3. Providing direct services to shelter guests and non-guests, intakes, departures, check in process, referrals, assisting with distribution of supplies and medication

    4. Monitor and promote appropriate interactions among guests

    5. Respond to any crisis or difficult situations that may arise, making the appropriate referrals, calling the police, paramedics or the Crisis Response Line (on-call staff will be available for assistance)

    6. Assisting in promoting compliance with rules and policies

    7. Oversee safety of guests and shelter

    8. Giving tours (i.e. schools, church groups, volunteers)

    9. Re-supplying food in dining room, kitchen, reorders supplies and doing grocery shopping as needed

    10. Housekeeping when needed

    11. Upkeep and inventory of freezers, storage closets, laundry room, cupboards, appliances

    12. Any major repairs are to be reported to the professionals on shelter repair list and must have Program Manager’s/Business Manager’s approval

  3. Assist with and oversee Evening Shift functions (3:00pm – 11:00pm).  This includes the same duties as AM shift with the addition of :

    1. Ensuring building and shelter property are secure

    2. Oversee evening chores

    3. Assist meeting/group volunteers if needed

  4. And other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years work or school equivalent in Human Services related field.  Preference will be given to applicants who possess or in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field. Ability to lift 20 lbs..

Experience and Skills:
Spanish speaking preferred
Experience working with homeless individuals and/or families preferred
Willing and able to work with diverse populations
Effective communication skills
Computer proficient
Knowledge of the unique cultural heritage of northern New Mexico


Other:

Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
Willing and able to use personal vehicle for local travel on agency business
Willing and able to work irregular hours and have a flexible work schedule
