Administration for All Shelter Programs
Deborah Tang, Executive Director: Deborah oversees all aspects of St. Elizabeth’s multifaceted operation. She has worked as director of several domestic violence shelters in the state prior to coming to St. Elizabeth’s, and has extensive background in helping small businesses get started in minority communities. Deborah holds two master’s degrees from the University of New Mexico, one in Community and Regional Planning and the other in Latin American Studies. She also has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Oregon State. Deborah is co-chair of the New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness and served on Mayor Coss’ Blue Ribbon Task Force to End Homelessness.
Michael Bartlett, Business Manager: A fifth-generation Californian, Michael moved to Santa Fe in 1999. With over 20 years of business experience, Michael brings his own particular style of business management to both non- and for-profit consulting clients. He has appreciated the opportunity to work with the employees and clients of St E’s since he started in November 2005.
Jim Podesta, Director of Development: Jim has more than 25 years experience in fundraising and communications working with a variety of non-profit organizations in Chicago and Santa Fe. During his career he has worked on five capital campaigns, directed numerous annual-fund efforts, personally solicited and stewarded major gifts from individual donors, foundations, corporations and organizations, as well as created targeted promotional and educational materials in various media.
Anna Carvlin, Data & Development Manager: Anna was born in New Mexico and spent much of her life in Chicago where she earned a BS at the University of Illinois. She continued her education in New Orleans at Tulane where she completed a master’s in international public health. She's studied abroad in Sri Lanka, Guatemala and Australia. Anna used her education in West Africa where she served in the Peace Corps. Before coming to St. E's in 2007, Anna resided in Chicago and worked in various capacities at several nonprofits that focus on issues of homelessness. She currently reports statistics to donors and handles gifts that come through the organization.
Emergency Shelter Operations Staff
Maria Lopez, Emergency Shelter Manager: Maria has been with the shelter for 17 years since starting as a volunteer and this experience has given her unique insights into the needs of Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico’s homeless community.
Shane Lampman, Case Manager: Shane began working with St. Elizabeth Shelter as an intern in 1994, and later worked as a Resident Manager for St. E’s family housing program. Shane completed his Master’s Degree in Cultural Anthropology at Northern Arizona University in 1997, where he studied cross-cultural psychology and human service issues. He has since worked for a number of non-profits in New York City, including The American Museum of Natural History and the National Religious Partnership for the Environment. Although he has lived in New York City and studied abroad in both Mexico and Costa Rica, Shane considers St. Elizabeth Shelter to be his home, and he is glad to be back.
Marlon Guite, Resource Center Project Manager: Marlon is a "behind the scenes type of guy". He is here at St. Elizabeth to help with anything anyone might need. In particular, he is responsible for the smooth operations of our Resource Center that attracts 150 people on average.
Susan Montez, Day Supervisor: Susan has been with St. Elizabeth Shelter since April 2007. Prior to joining St. Elizabeth staff, Susan worked in nursing at St. Vincent hospital for over 30 years. Susan is very happy to be at St. Elizabeth Shelter!
Sarah Anderson, Intern: Sarah was born and raised in a small town in southeastern Wisconsin. However, she considers her true “home” to be in Hawai’i. She received her BA in international development with minors in Spanish and women’s studies from the University of Hawai’i Manoa in May 2009. She has lived in numerous countries and hopes to continue her education to include a master’s and doctorate degree in international development, Latin American studies, and sexuality/gender issues. In her free time she lives to travel, practice yoga, scuba dive, rock-climb, indulge in art, and further her personal growth in all forms. She is extremely excited to be on a great staff with amazing people here at St. E’s!
Liz, Intern:
Erin Sindewald, Intern: A Midwestern girl at heart, Erin grew up in Orland Park, IL, and majored in english at Grinnell College in Iowa. After graduating in 2008, she spent a year working in communications and development in Washington, DC, at a non-profit health clinic that serves uninsured Latinos. Erin enjoys running, flossing, plaid shirts, Spanish, oldies music, dance parties, word games, and when good things happen to good people. (She thinks most people are good people.)
Andrea Sliva, Intern:Andrea grew-up in the Adirondack area of New York. She received her BA at Fordham University in the Bronx with a
semester abroad studying and doing community work in El Salvador. After graduating she continued to live in the Bronx working for a non-profit doing educational advocacy for youth involved in the juvenile justice system in NYC. She most recently returned back to the US after two years in Mauritania, West Africa where she worked in the area of girls' empowerment with the Peace Corps. She is very thankful for the opportunity to work St. E's and learn from the dedicated staff and wonderful people she has already encountered since arriving here in Santa Fe.

Shea Goodluck-Barnes, Resident Manager& Counselor: Shea directs this supportive transitional housing program for individuals with disabilities and serves as its licensed alcohol and drug addiction counselor. Previously she worked as a domestic violence counselor and women's advocate at the Navajo United Methodist Center.

Neal Windham, Program Manager: Neal directs operations of the supportive transitional family housing program and he has run the program since its inception over 10 years ago. Before joining St. Elizabeth, Neal worked as a youth specialist at a youth emergency shelter and teen transitional living center in Phoenix, Arizona.
Karen Cain, Case Manager: Karen has been a licensed mental health counselor in New Mexico for more than 10 years. Originally from Texas, she began her career at Neighborhood Youth Services and the Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center in that state. After moving to Santa Fe, she worked at Esperanza Shelter for five years. Her main focus now is counseling homeless children and families at the emergency shelter and Sonrisa Family Transitional Living Program. She also directs the shelter's Street Homeless Companion Animal Assistance Program.

Sam Chavez, Resident Manager Case Manager: Sam directs operations of this supportive transitional senior housing program. He also works as a teacher in the Espanola school system.
